Theatre for Young Audiences/USA (TYA/USA), is the leading national organization for the professional field of theatre for young people, their families, and their communities. Dedicated to ensuring that all young people have access to high-quality theatre experiences, the organization provides robust programming, professional development, advocacy, research, and resources to thousands of individual artists, educators, and TYA organizations across the country. Founded in 1965, TYA/USA is the United States Center for the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ). Most recently, the organization offered a Virtual Festival and Conference serving 1200 participants across 21 countries, and the Listen, Learn, Lead: Antiracism in TYA Webinar Series, inspiring action and change across the field to ensure a more equitable future.

TYA/USA seeks a Part-Time Membership Assistant. This individual will be a crucial member of a small but growing staff team. The Membership Assistant is responsible for supporting TYA/USA’s national membership base (1000+ members) including communications, customer service, outreach, and database management. 

The ideal candidate is an energetic, detail-oriented, self-motivated arts administrator with an interest in theatre and a deep commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism. 


This is a part-time hourly non-exempt position at $17.50/hour with an average of 10-12 hours a week ($200 weekly). Schedule to be mutually agreed upon.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Membership & Communications Support

Serve as primary and initial contact for membership customer service related calls, fielding questions, issues, etc. 

Manage all membership administrative communications, including new member submissions and renewals.

Administer the relationship side of the membership database, updating contact information, processing dues and renewal cycles.

Offer customer services to members, including account management and support

Research potential members and coordinating outreach.

Support relationships with other membership organizations.

Serve as main responder to all inquiries in the [email protected] account and social media accounts

Support the creation of marketing emails, including the TYA Connect e-blast and other communication.

Support the management of theatre listings on the TYA/USA website, job listings, etc.

General office support as needed.

Donor Relationship Support

Track donor database 

Support annual appeal and process donor acknowledgements

Provide administrative support for grant tracking and donor relationships

Desired Skills and Experience 

Excellent customer service skills

Solution-oriented thinking and problem-solving skills

Ability to work remotely

Motivated and enthusiastic to help grow a national membership organization

Commitment to ongoing individual and collective learning

Proficient in Google Workspace

Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms a plus

Interest in Theatre for Young Audiences a plus
