DESCRIPTION
Jane Austen’s PERSUASION Song Cycle
Music by Ludwig Van Beethoven. Lyrics by Emily King
Jane Austen’s PERSUASION Song Cycle does justice to the brilliance of Austen’s writing by pairing witty and intelligent lyrics with her contemporary musical genius Beethoven’s chamber music, and telling her most compelling story through song. The Finale celebrates Jane Austen, and her ability to create happy endings in her stories, when real life so often sadly disappoints.
Conceived as a Regency period fancy-dress concert version with piano quintet and 8 classically-trained singers. Dances, pantomime and period illustrations as projections create the atmosphere of time, place and seasickness.
