Job Summary

·       Reporting to the Theatre Department Chair, this position manages the collaborative efforts and communications among all parties involved in Auburn University Theatre productions

·       Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: facilitating communication and coordinating collaborative efforts among all parties within the Theatre Department and productions including creating and ensuring adherence to the annual production calendars in consultation with the department chair and technical director.

·       Coordinate, facilitate, and preside over all production meetings, both in person and electronically, and address all production-related problems and devise and implement solutions.

·       Determine materials necessary for each production in consultation with the technical design personnel and coordinate the purchase and delivery of said materials. Monitor and manage the production budget as well as providing input to the department chair regarding annual budget development.

·       Additionally, oversee, along with the department chair, all technical theatre staff to ensure proper management of production budget and timely completion of tasks to meet deadlines.

·       Coordinate and oversee the hiring process for guest artists performing in or working on Auburn University Theatre productions as well as facilitating the assignment of students to running crew and other production responsibilities under the direction of the department chair and in consultation with relevant faculty.

·       Serve as venue manager for all Theatre Department spaces and serves as chief liaison between the Theatre Department and the Gogue Performing Arts Center facilitating communication and coordinating collaborative efforts.

·       Serve as venue manager and chief point of contact for all of the Theatre Department’s spaces being used by outside groups and assists parties with all contracts and documentation to ensure optimal experience within the theatre building.

·       Performs other duties as assigned by the department chair. May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees.

 

Essential Functions

Minimum Education and Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

·       Theatre, Theatre Management, or related field

·       Three years of experience  

·       Experience in professional or educational theatrical production. At least two years of professional experience in theatre management.

 

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

 

Minimum Skills and Abilities

·       Candidate must possess knowledge in all areas of theatre production, Actor’s Equity guidelines, and OSHA requirements.

·       The successful candidate must have strong organization skills, excellent communication skills, excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, knowledge and experience with scene and costume shop tools and materials, design, and construction of stage properties, knowledge of stage operations and safety, basic math and solid writing skills, strong background and demonstrated ability in production and stage management.

·       Candidate must also be able to use MS office effectively. Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively is essential.

·       Valid Driver’s License.

 

Salary Range: $45,100 – $75,100
