Preparation Instructions: Please prepare a brief song in the style of any show in the season. You may submit multiple videos if you’d like, ideally each cut will be around a minute in length. For dancers, please submit dance footage (tap especially, for 42nd Street consideration) and for actor- instrumentalists, please also submit relevant footage (for Buddy consideration).

Our audition form serves in place of an in-person EPA. Please select your union status when filling out the form, but please note the form is open to Equity *and* non-Equity performers.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All dates and shows are to be considered PENDING, given the global health crisis. Our hope is to reopen with the listed shows, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines. While the dates may need to move later, we are beginning the casting process now and are committed to presenting these shows whenever conditions permit us to do so. Although we’re only listing the Equity-defined principal roles in this EPA notice, we’re open to submissions for those seeking consideration for chorus roles, as well, given the unexpected time that has passed since our ECC (due to COVID-19).

SEEKING:
[ANGELA QUIVERS] 18+ to play high school age. All ethnicities, body types, etc. Shy, self-identifies as “awkward.” Doesn’t quite feel comfortable anywhere, has both an inherent weirdness and sweetness. Should possess an interesting, personality-filled pop/rock voice. High mix/belt with a pop/rock sound (think Blondie meets Pat Benatar meets Fefe Dobson).

[PROXI] 18+ to play high school age. All ethnicities, body types, etc. The ultimate badass punk rock chick. Exploding with charisma, personality, specificity. Everything she does is electric- part T-Rex, part Muppet. High mix/belt with punk rock sound (think Siouxsie Soux meets Joan Jett).

[DUDLEY] 18+ to play high school age. All ethnicities, body types, etc. The sweetest boy. A real introvert, impossibly clumsy, painfully un-slick. He’s got a great big heart. Bari/Tenor with a pop/rock sound.

[PATRICIA] 18+ to play high school age. All ethnicities, body types, etc. A straight-laced, buttoned-up, tightly-wound, overachiever. She has not missed a day of school since Kindergarten and, quite frankly, she’s embarrassed for anyone who has. High mix/belt with a pop/rock sound (think Gwen Stefani meets Courtney Love).

[ERNST] 18+ to play high school age. All ethnicities, body types, etc. Short. Suspicious, clever, humorless, harsh, at his happiest when is catching someone in a lie. Bari/Tenor with a pop/rock sound. Dance ability a major plus.

[HERMANN] 18+ to play high school age. All ethnicities, body types, etc. Ernst’s sidekick. Possesses all of the qualities of Ernst, he’s just fuzzier, duller, blurrier. A bit of a scaredy cat, although he tries not to be. Bari/Tenor with a pop/rock sound. Dance ability a major plus.

THE HUMANZ – (Proxi’s Band) For all roles in the “band,” instrumental ability is a plus but NOT required.

[JACKI SLAPS] 18+ to play high school age. All ethnicities, body types, etc. The Bass Player. Tough chick from Queens. She’ll cut you with her press-on nails. Jacki is all about leather and leopard print. Dance ability a major plus, **does not need to actually play an instrument, but instrumental ability a plus.**

[JUDY POWER] 18+ to play high school age, All ethnicities, body types, etc. The Guitar Player. Moody, cool as hell rocker, origins unknown. She owns 28 pairs of black shades and they all look exactly the same. Dance ability a major plus, **does not need to actually play an instrument, but instrumental ability a plus.**

[SHEENA SLAM] 18+ to play high school age, All ethnicities, body types, etc. The Drummer. Stoned, spacey, happy, trippy, like, whatever, man, yeah, love it, dude, cuz, like, right on, dig? [SKULL] 18+ to play high school age, All ethnicities, body types, etc. An attractive but dull dude who plays the triangle. Eye candy, harboring a painful secret. Dance ability a major plus, **does not need to actually play an instrument, but instrumental ability a plus.**

[ENSEMBLE] 18+ to play high school age, looking for people who don’t fit into a “type.” All ethnicities, body types, etc. Looking for creatures, weirdos, geeks, punks, and dweebs who are brilliant actors, fabulous comedians, and killer, personality-filled pop/rock singers. Dance ability needed.

[DOROTHY BROCK] 40s, female, any ethnicity. A past-her-prime Broadway diva. Elegant, must move well and possess a strong sense of comic timing; low alto to low Eb. Strong singer with resonant low range.

[JULIAN MARSH] 30s to 50s, male, any ethnicity. Powerful and charismatic, he is a successful Broadway director; strong baritone, up to an Ab.

[BILLY LAWLOR] 18+, male, any ethnicity. The classic juvenile; handsome, charming; spectacular tapper, and soaring tenor.

[ANYTIME ANNIE] 18+ female, any ethnicity. She knows the ropes and is no fool; must have strong belt and great tap skills.

[MAGGIE JONES] 30s to 50s, female, any ethnicity. half of the writing duo; must sing and move well and be able to play comedy with great warmth and charm; character alto.

[BERT BARRY] 30s to 50s, male, any ethnicity. Half of the writing duo; must sing and move well and be able to play comedy with vaudeville timing; character baritone.

[PAT DENNING] 30s-40s, male, any ethnicity. Handsome vaudeville performer down on his luck; Dorothy Brock’s true love; baritone.

[JOE B. MAUDLIN] 20s, male, any ethnicity. Double Bass player from Lubbock, Texas. Serious, square young man with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.

[HIPOCKETS DUNCAN] 30s, male, any ethnicity. An exuberant hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas, with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.

[NORMAN PETTY] 30s, male, any ethnicity. A record producer from Clovis, New Mexico, with a businesslike manner and a love of making records. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument. May play additional tracks.

[VI PETTY] 30s, female, any ethnicity. The wife of Norman with a heart of gold. Vi must be able to sing and act and have exceptional Rock ‘n’ Roll keyboards ability, with a good sense of humor. Will likely play additional tracks.

[MARIA ELENA HOLLY] early 20s, female, Latina. Well-educated, attractive and classy. Sings well, instrumental ability a plus.

[J.P. RICHARDSON — THE BIG BOPPER] 30s, male, any ethnicity. A former DJ, he is a Texan with an irrepressible larger-than-life character. 6ft and above, with the ability to command the stage on his own as a single performer. His key song is “Chantilly Lace”. Must be able to act and the ability to play a musical instrument an advantage but not prohibitive. Will likely play additional tracks.

[RITCHIE VALENS] 18+ to play late teens, male, American born in Los Angeles to Mexican-American parents. Ritchie is an attractive young man with serious charisma and the ability to hold the stage In his own right. His key song Is “La Bamba” – strong actor. Will likely play additional tracks.
