Acting Out! Premier Acting School, located in Brooklyn is seeking teachers for our 2020-2021 school year. We offer a variety of acting and musical theatre classes for ages 5-17, private voice, piano and guitar lessons. We also specialize in Audition Preparation for performing arts high schools and middle schools throughout the five boroughs. For more information about our amazing school visit actingoutonline.com. Unique to the current pandemic, this coming school year will be a hybrid model of in-person and virtual classes, so please take note that we are looking to fill positions for one or both of these options. Acting Out is following all Covid-19 safety protocol for holding classes in-person.

We are looking for serious applicants only, please read below for further information about what is needed. Our school follows a suggested curriculum with room for new ideas and suggestions into what is being taught. We are more craft-focused than performance-focused, but do work towards a performance at the end of our school year.  Acting Out seeks a candidate for the following:

Musical Theatre & Private Vocal Teacher

–       Qualified candidate must relate well to all ages and must have experience teaching Musical Theatre to children ages 9-16

–       must have experience teaching Voice Lessons to children ages 9-16

–       familiarity with New York area school audition requirements is a plus and please note there are guidelines to be followed for prepping Middle School Prep and High School Prep Audition students

–       willingness to travel to the southwest area of Brooklyn

–       ability to play piano is a plus, but not required. Ideally, we would want someone who can lead vocal warm ups and plunk notes on the piano for whatever songs are being learned for the MT classes

–       likes to create a welcoming, encouraging, and fun environment when teaching

–       sense of humor and collaborative spirit are a plus

–       Along with directing musical theatre numbers for our end of year production, instructor must have knowledge of providing children of what it is to be a professional in the musical theatre business.

–       We are looking to have a well-rounded class that covers character development, choreography, vocal technique, preparing for auditions, working with an ensemble and developing the students own unique style

Acting and Musical Theatre Teacher for Ages 5-8

–       must have experience teaching Acting and Musical Theatre to children ages 5-8

–       must relate well to children and enjoy working with them

–       willingness to travel to the southwest area of Brooklyn

–       ability to play piano is a plus, but not required. Ideally we would want someone who can lead vocal warm ups and plunk notes on the piano for whatever songs are being learned

–       likes to create a welcoming, encouraging, and fun environment when teaching

–       sense of humor and collaborative spirit are a plus

Acting Teacher for Ages 11-16

–       Qualified candidate must relate well to all ages and must have experience teaching Acting to children ages 11-16

–       willingness to travel to the southwest area of Brooklyn

–       likes to create a welcoming, encouraging, and fun environment when teaching

–       sense of humor and collaborative spirit are a plus

–       Along with directing scenes or plays for our end of year production, instructor must have knowledge of providing children of what it is to be a professional in the business.

–       Three separate classes for these groups: 6th Grade, 7th Grade and 8th-12th Grade.

–       We are looking to have three well-rounded classes that cover character development, warming up and vocal technique for the actor, preparing for auditions, scene study, working with an ensemble and developing the students own unique style.
