Hector MacQueen – a nervous young American in his 30s with a strained, rather beleaguered face. Michel the Conductor/Head Waiter – a good-looking Frenchman, about 40, with a quiet, almost grave sense of humor
Princess Dragomiroff – in her 70s. She is Russian, expensively dressed and heavily bejeweled
Greta Ohlsson – Swedish 30s and plain
Countess Andrenyi – in her 20s, brilliantly beautiful and dressed to the nines
Helen Hubbard – an outspoken American in her 50s, well-dressed with a touch of flamboyance Colonel Arbuthnot/Samuel Ratchett – Scotsman with a Scots accent in his mid 30s, handsome and very matter-of-fact / middle-aged American businessman, brusque, unforgiving, with a threatening demeanor and a whiplash of a voice.
