ACTOR 1: Yvette Franklin in WHITELISTED/ AND reps with Dani in BABEL: Yvette: a black woman, late 40’s. She is strong willed, determined with a dark sense of humor. She seeks justice and revenge. / Dani: a female in her 40’s, Renee’s wife. She is strong willed, and sure of herself. She is determined and has a loving personality. She has a dark temper.
ACTOR 2: Rebecca in WHITELISTED / AND reps with Ann in BABEL: Rebecca: a white woman, 30’s. She is in her gentrifying glory in her newly renovated brownstone where she custom designs dollhouses. She is privileged, intelligent, selfish, charming with strong comedic chops. The actor will be flown and suspended upside down for several minutes. / Ann: a female, 20’s-30’s. Jamie’s wife. She tries to be perfect in every way. She is attractive and charming with strong comedic chops.
ACTOR 3: Ryan Mallory in WHITELISTED / AND reps with Jamie in BABEL: Ryan: a white male, late 30’s. He is handsome, vain, charismatic and sexy…with a big ego. He has strong comedic chops. / Jamie: a male, 30’s-40’s. Ann’s husband. He is warm, caring and friendly. He also plays The Stork Mascot with big comedic chops.
ACTOR 4: Diego in WHITELISTED / AND reps with Jamie in BABEL: Diego: a Latinx male, late 30’s. He is smart, protective and a caring man. An inventive/imaginative actor with strong comedic chops. / Jamie: a male, 30’s-40’s. Ann’s husband. He is warm, caring and friendly. He also plays The Stork Mascot with big comedic chops.
ACTOR 5: Maya Franklin in WHITELISTED: Black pre-teen girl (Adult 18+), Yvette’s daughter…she suffers from asthma.
ACTOR 6: Jordan in USHUAIA BLUE / AND reps with Troy in THE FIFTH DOMAIN: Jordan: a male, 30’s-40. A marine biologist doing research in Antarctica. He is stubborn with a sense of humor and a tad bookish. He is warm and affable with a strong sense of outdoorsyness…he can spend months in the harsh climate of Antarctica. This role requires the ability to handle poetic language with grace and lightness, and openness. / Troy: Ideally a white male, 30’s-40. A hacker, formerly with the NSA. He is super intelligent and passionate about his work! He considers himself the smartest person in the room. He is very internal and perhaps a little “on the spectrum” or at least socially awkward. He has anxiety, but holds it down.
ACTOR 7: Sara in USHUAIA BLUE / AND reps with Lena in THE FIFTH DOMAIN: Sara: a female, late 30’s. Specializes in bio-acoustics. She is spirited, willful, and searching. Someone that you can believe may be a visionary or prone to visions. She is actively searching for answers but is also confused, and troubled, and unsure. This role requires an actor with strong movement skills. / Lena: A female, late 30’s. A hacker for the NSA. She is extremely intelligent, cares deeply about her job in the
NSA. She is friendly, cares about family, and has a tough time getting to where she is in a male- dominated field… competitive.
ACTOR 8: Piper in USHUAIA BLUE / AND reps with Dani in BABEL: Piper: a female, age 40-50. Piper is Sara’s cousin. She has a strong sisterly vibe. Warm, caring and intelligent. She is the leader and anchor of the small town female chorus. This role requires an actor with movement skills. Dani: a female, 40’s, Renee’s wife. She is strong willed, and sure of herself. She is determined and has a loving personality. She has a dark temper.
ACTOR 9: Ash in USHUAIA BLUE / AND reps with Rene in BABEL: Ash is a female late 30’s-40’s. She is a friend to Sara. Has a strong sense of a sisterly vibe. She is skeptical and a bit contrarian. She is in the chorus. This role requires an actor with movement skills. / Rene: A female, late 30’s to 40. She is Dani’s wife. She is overly sensitive, emotional, rebellious, and spirited.
ACTOR 10: Zane in USHUAIA BLUE / AND reps with Meili in FIFTH DOMAIN: Zane: female, early 30’s. She has firm convictions, is caring, and has had trouble in life but doesn’t wear it on her sleeve. She is in the small town female chorus. This role requires an actor with movement skills. / Meili: A female, 30’s. A Chinese hacker formally with the Advanced Persistent Threat (APT). A “Punky freelance hacker chick”. She is highly intelligent and emotionally grounded. She is always calculating. Doesn’t like risk, but will take them in the right situation and is surprised how much she enjoys the rush. Finds humor in the mundane, and is politically motivated.
ACTOR 11: Pepa in USHUAIA BLUE: Pepa: a female, late 30’s to late 50’s. Ideally Latinx. She is practical, of the earth, grounded with core beliefs, and has a sense of mischief. She is an intelligent woman and possesses an inner truth. She is a distant descendant of the Yaghan People from South America.
ACTOR 12: Henry in THE HOUSE OF THE NEGRO INSANE: White Male, age 45. Wiry, a Scarecrow. He is unhinged and unpredictable. He follows a delusional code of his own making… desperate to be recognized and respected. He is a dangerous human, but earnestly believes he is a protector and savior. This role requires stage combat skills.
ACTOR 13: Attius in THE HOUSE OF THE NEGRO INSANE: African American Male, late 30’s to 40’s. Tall, imposing, intelligent, with a hardened exterior and a fuse just below the surface. He moves like a man who has been confined too long. He walks a delicate balance in order to hang onto the relative shelter he’s built for himself at Taft State Hospital by shrouding his sentiments. He is a survivor and a good man. This role requires stage combat skills.
ACTOR 14: Effie in THE HOUSE OF THE NEGRO INSANE: African American Female, late 20’s. She is strong, sturdy, and self-determined. She is an unstoppable force who caries herself without fear… Willing to pay a price rather than lose her freedom or bow to authority. A passionate, independent, rebellious, woman. This role requires stage combat skills.
ACTOR 15: Madeleine in THE HOUSE OF THE NEGRO INSANE: African American Female, 18+ to play 10-12 years old. She wears an eye patch over her right eye. Suffers from seizures (would be diagnosed with epilepsy today). She grew up sheltered, lonely, and disconnected from other children, and wants to find friendship and affection. Her youthful spirit draws Attius and Effie to protect her; together they forge an unlikely family. This role requires stage combat skills.
ACTOR 16: Amina in SHEEPDOG: African American Female, late 20’s to mid-30’s. She is a Police Officer. She is emotionally guarded, strong, with a raw sense of humor and not too self-serious. She is a Cop’s Cop. She has that classic noir dark sense of humor. She comes from working class roots and is from the city and street smart. Her magnetism/charisma is huge. The actor has to command the space and control the storytelling.
ACTOR 17: Ryan in SHEEPDOG: White Male, late 20’s to mid 30’s. He is a Police Officer. He is an earnest, working class Midwesterner. He is bright, but not college educated. We should fall in love with him. He is charming, warm, and friendly.
ACTOR 18: Naveed in THE FIFTH DOMAIN: Male, ideally South Asian or Persian in their late 30’s to 40’s. He is a security specialist for a government contractor. He should be handsome, sexy, and mysterious. He is cool under pressure… a smooth talker… well dressed. He is very persuasive but also has a menacing edge.
