Position Summary:

Pilobolus is seeking a Producer for their 3rd Annual Five Senses Festival this summer in Washington, CT.   This position will require residency in Washington, CT during the festival, but we are open to remote candidates during the preparation months.  The 2020 Five Senses Festival will take place between July 25 & August 9th. This is a full-time seasonal position: April 1st-August 21.

The Five Senses Festival is an outdoor arts and ideas festival that takes place in Washington, CT.  It involves music and dance performances; lectures and conversations by writers and thinkers from a diverse array of disciplines; visual, audio, and video art installations; educational and craft activities for kids and families; and delicious food and drink. Facilities include a barn with a stage, an outdoor amphitheater, a 40ft tall silo with a performance space inside, a field, fire pit, train car converted into restrooms, and an airstream bar trailer serving as a bar, covered seating areas, an on-site parking area, and two small silos serving as box office and storage. Festival attendance will average 200 guests per event.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist staff with execution of programming plans within assigned budget

  • Collaborate with artistic and production staff on schedule for festival events, rehearsals, and sound checks

  • Serve as main point of contact with all guest artists and ensure they are apprised of all travel arrangements, schedules, hospitality & logistics

  • Recruitment and scheduling of festival volunteers and additional support staff 

  • Obtain necessary local & liquor permits and arrange for local security, fire watch, and traffic control

  • Assist in set up of festival grounds during load in week and take down during load out days

  • Serve as event manager during festival hours (coordinate staff and volunteers, oversee festival schedule, liaise with guest artists)

  • Track and report departmental expenses 

  • Maintain records and notes on process

  • Participate in post-mortem and archival process to ensure continuing success of annual festival

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in production management, stage management, and/or event production.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills required

  • Demonstrated personnel management experience

  • Strong organizational skills a must

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment

  • Must work well in team settings but also be highly proactive and motivated working independently

  • Must be a collaborator and be able to approach potential problems with creative solutions and a good sense of humor

  • Ability to work constructively with a wide-range of personalities and work styles

  • Evening, weekend, and long hours will be required at times and especially during summer festival
