Female Ensemble/ Frances DiMucci: (Female, late 30’s-40’s, Caucasian) DION’s Bronx Italian- American mother; boisterous; aware of addiction through experience with a former partner and focused on saving her son; Strong actress with great comedic timing. Also plays multiple roles including Bronx Neighborhood Girl, Bobby Soxer, and Teen Fan; Must be a strong dancer. Must sing in a pop/rock style, and be good with vocal harmony. FEATURED ENSEMBLE.

Male Ensemble/Belmont/Big Bopper: (Male; 20’s, any ethnicity). Versatile Actor to play JP “Big Bopper” Richardson. Actor may double as a Street Gang Member and a Doo Wop Back-Up singer. Must have a versatile singing range, the ability to Harmonize and play Guitar (or at least have some familiarity with Guitar, or willingness to learn). VOCALLY: Must sing in a Pop/Rock style with very strong vocal harmony skills. EITHER High Bari/Tenor to A4, w/ high falsetto to C5, OR Baritone to D4, OR Bass/Bari, with solid “Bass-Man” Sound, F32 – D4. Must be a strong dancer. FEATURED ENSEMBLE. ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED.

Male Ensemble/Belmont/Buddy Holly: (Male; 20’s, Caucasian) Versatile actor to play Buddy Holly. Actor may double as a Street Gang Member and a Doo Wop Back-Up singer. Must have a versatile singing range, the ability to Harmonize and play Guitar (or at least have some familiarity with Guitar, or willingness to learn). VOCALLY: Must Sing in a Pop/Rock style, and be an excellent reader with very strong vocal harmony skills — May be: High Bari/Tenor to A4, w/ high falsetto to C5, OR Baritone to D4, OR Bass/Bari, with solid “Bass-Man” sound, F32 – D4. Must be a strong dancer. FEATURED ENSEMBLE. ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED.

Must have a versatile singing range, the ability to Harmonize and play Guitar (or at least have some familiarity with Guitar, or willingness to learn). VOCALLY: Must Sing in a Pop/Rock style, and be an excellent reader with very strong vocal harmony skills — May be one of EITHER High Bari/Tenor to A4, w/ high falsetto to C5, OR Baritone to D4, OR Bass/Bari, with solid “Bass-Man” sound, F32 – D4. Must be a strong dancer. FEATURED ENSEMBLE. ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED.

Male Ensemble/Monsignor Pernicone: (Male, late 40s/50’s. Caucasian.) An Italian neighborhood priest. Both an authoritative and comforting presence who offers guidance to DION and other members of the Bronx community. Grounded, personable, and real.
Strong actor and singer; Must sing in a pop/rock style, and be good with vocal harmony; Moves very well. FEATURED ENSEMBLE. ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED.

Female Ensemble: (Female, mid 20’s – early 30’s; any ethnicity). To play multiple roles including Bronx Neighborhood Girls, Bobby Soxers, and Teen Fans; Must be very strong pop/rock singers (not legit) and dancers. Must be strong with vocal harmony. ENSEMBLE.

Male Ensemble: (Male, mid 20’s – mid 40’s; any ethnicity). To play multiple roles including Bronx Neighborhood guys, Gang Members, Fans, Recording Engineers. Must be very strong pop/rock singers (not legit) and dancers and must have the ability to harmonize and play guitar (or at least have some familiarity with guitar, or willingness to learn) ENSEMBLE.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Please prepare 16 bars of a short pop/rock song it the style of the show (1950’s or 1960’s pop rock, Doo-Wop, etc) that demonstrates range and musicality. Please bring sheet music for your song and a photo/resume stapled together. A piano accompanist will be provided.
