[SIBYL CHASE]: Attractive, innocent, conventional, first time bride who feels very threatened by her new husband’s first wife, Amanda. Superb comic timing. 25-35.

[AMANDA PRYNNE]: A second time bride. She is vivacious, quick witted, spirited, independent, and unconventional. She has a fiery temper and a tendency to be impulsive. Superb comic timing. 35-55.

[VICTOR PRYNNE]: Amanda’s second husband. He is conventional and very pleased to describe himself as normal. He lacks a sense of humor. He can be chivalrous. Superb comic timing. 30-45.

[LOUISE]: Amanda’s French speaking maid. She is unable to speak English and unable to comprehend what happens around her. Superb comic timing. 25-55.

[ALAN RALEIGH] – 35-55, Annette’s husband and Henry’s father, a lawyer who is unapologetically attached at the ear to his cell phone as he attempts to do damage control for a pharmaceutical company.

[VERONICA NOVAK] – 35-55, Benjamin’s lofty-minded mother, who called the meeting with Henry’s parents. She is a specialist in African culture and writing a book on Darfur.

[FRENCHY]: (Range: Alto, A3–D5) A dreamer; good-natured and a loyal friend but not too smart, she cares deeply about her appearance, particularly her hair. She can’t wait to finish high school so she can be a beautician. Any ethnicity.

[MARTY]: (Range Alto, C4–C5) Considers herself the “beauty” of the Pink Ladies. She’s aged faster than her friends, but betrays her real age when she opens her mouth. Tries to act sophisticated. Any ethnicity.

[JAN]: (Range: Alto, A3-C5) Funny, loud and pushy with the girls, but shy with boys. She struggles with her relationship to food. Any ethnicity. Any ethnicity.

[DOODY]: (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) The youngest of the guys; small, boyish, and open, with a disarming smile and a hero-worshipping attitude towards the other guys. Must play the guitar. Any ethnicity.

[KENICKIE]: (Range: Tenor, C4–F5) The second in command of the Burger Palace Boys; tough, tattooed, surly, and avoids any show of softness. He has an offbeat sense of humor. Any ethnicity.

[SONNY LATIERRI]: (Range: baritone, G3–A5) A member of the Burger Palace Boys; funny Italian- American, he is a braggart and wheeler-dealer who thinks he’s a real lady-killer. Any ethnicity.

[ROGER]: (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) He will do anything for a laugh. Full of mischief, half-baked schemes and ideas. A clown who enjoys putting other people on. Any ethnicity.

[VINCE FONTAINE]: (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible) A typical ‘teen audience’ disc jockey; slick, egotistical and fast-talking. He is also a veteran ‘Greaser.’ Any Ethnicity.30-45 y/o.

[CHA-CHA]: (Range: Alto, C4–C5) The best dancer at St. Bernadette’s; a loud mouth, she wins the dancing competition with Danny. Any Ethnicity.

[EUGENE FLORCZYK]: (Range: Tenor, A3–E5) The class valedictorian; physically awkward, with weak eyes and a high-pitched voice. He’s a typical ‘apple-polisher’ – both smug and pompous, but always gullible. Any ethnicity.

[JOHNNY CASINO]: (Range: Tenor, G4-E5) All-American, rock-star “greaser” student at Rydell High, whose real name is Clarence. likes to think of himself as a real rock “n” roll idol. Any ethnicity.

[MISS LYNCH]: (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible) A no-nonsense, serious, loud English teacher. Strong comedy chops. Any ethnicity. 40+ y/o.

[PATTY SIMCOX]: (Range: Alto, D4-A4) A typical cheerleader; athletic, sure-of herself, but can be given to bursts of disconcerting enthusiasm. She’s a bit of a pain and unpopular with the Pink Ladies, and can twirl a baton. Any ethnicity.

[TEEN ANGEL]: (Range: Tenor, E4–F5) Frenchy’s suave and slick guardian angel, who encourages her to stay in school. Any ethnicity. Flexible age.

[MARY DEBENHAM] Female; 30-40 – An English beauty; a governess, capable yet romantic; a sadness around her eyes and a hardness about her person.

[HECTOR MACQUEEN] Male; 30-40 – Tightly wound, edgy and nervous; he seems to always be on the verge of falling apart or coming unwound.

[COUNTESS ANDRENYI] Female; 25-39 – Brilliantly beautiful, like something out of a fairytale; impeccably put together, with a warmth that wins over everyone she meets; her delicacy belies a steely edge; she is no wilting flower; Hungarian accent.

[HELEN HUBBARD] Female; 40-65 – An outspoken and flamboyant American from the Midwest; jovial, obnoxious, domineering, deliciously nosy and brash; unapologetic; must be an excellent comedienne.

[COLONEL ARBUTHNOT/RATCHETT] Male; 35-59 – One actor will play two roles.
Samuel Ratchett: middle-aged American businessman, evil at heart and frightening, brusque, unforgiving, stern demeanor. Pushy, domineering. Colonel Arbuthnot: Scotsman, also middle aged, handsome, very matter of fact, occasionally tender; must have great comic timing.

[CARL PERKINS] Male, 25-35. Actor/singer/guitar player (lead guitar); the American pioneer of rockabilly music and best known for his song “Blue Suede Shoes”; must be an excellent lead guitarist.

[JOHNNY CASH] Male, 20-30. at the dawn of his epic career; must be familiar with his music and able to play guitar; tall; should sound and look somewhat like Johnny without being an “impersonator”.

[SAM PHILLIPS] Male, 25-40. “Father of Rock’n’Roll” and founder of Sun Records who discovered Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and many others including Roy Orbison and B.B. King; a towering and charismatic figure in American music.

[DYANNE] Female, 18-30. an aspiring singer and Elvis’s girlfriend; attractive; great singer with a wide range; sings solos and back-up throughout the show; sings “Fever” in her alto range and covers the high soprano part of “Riders In The Sky” (Johnny Cash song).
