Assistant Professor of Costume and Fashion Design

Centenary Universty, in Hackketstown NJ approximately 50 miles west of NYC, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Costume and Fashion Design.
The Theatre program offers a BA in Costume Design and is affiliated with the Centenary Stage Company, a not for profit equity theatre in residence at Centenary. The faculty member will also serve as the principal designer forthe equity theatre as well as supervising costume design students in the program.
The Fashion Program is part of the Department of Communications and Fine Arts, and serves about 60 students. The curriculum integrates professional course work with a strong liberal arts core. There are 2 fashion concentrations; Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising. Graduates in both concentrations earn MFA degrees. Centenary merchandising students are prepared for positions in the creative, artistic, and visual areas of the fashion industry. Design and merchandising students take many of the same courses. The college computer labs offer Adobe, Gerber, and Visual Retailing software.
Teach 7 courses (28 credits) per academic year–Fall/Spring/or Summer, in Fashion Merchandising, and/or Fashion Design, Costume Design and History of Costume.
· Able to teach at least three of the following undergraduate subjects: social-psychological aspects of clothing, retailing, textile science, textile performance and apparel quality evaluation, apparel construction, patternmaking/draping, visual merchandising. Knowledge of Gerber Accumark and PDA and Mockshop (Visual Retailing) software is an advantage.
· Provide service that is beneficial to the department, college, and community.
· Foster industry relationships and develop cooperative projects within the curriculum.
