DESCRIPTION

The Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance at Indiana University is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professorship in the BFAMusical Theatre Program to start in August 2020. Responsibilities include teaching musical theatre dance, choreographing a musical in the main stage season, mentoring students, and engaging in recruitment for the program. The ideal candidate will have an established national profile as a choreographer, a strong pedagogical approach to teaching dance at the professional and/or university level and will possess skilled knowledge in body/mind/nutritional wellness. Expertise in the history and styles of musical theatre dance; jazz, tap, hip-hop, including a strong technical ballet base, is required. We encourage a cross-disciplinary training approach that takes advantage of all IU has to offer and we seek a dedicated collaborator to engage in projects with fellow artists and scholars. Our goal is to prepare well-rounded, multi-faceted musical theatre artists who will succeed in the profession. MFA and/or equivalent professional experience is required.
