Ebenezer Scrooge (M, 40s+): An elegant but gruff man who values hard work and thrift and disdains all else. Unforgiving boss to Bob Cratchit and unaffectionate uncle to Fred.

Bob Cratchit (M, 30s+): A devoted father and Scrooge’s sole employee. Loyal and tender, Cratchit is willing to withstand Scrooge’s cruelty and poor wages for the good of his family.

Mrs. Cratchit (F, 30s+): Strong and generous, Mrs. Cratchit takes pride in the fact that her family is able to create warmth and laughter out of little means.

Ghost of Christmas Past & Others (F, 20s+): The Ghost of Christmas Past accompanies Scrooge through some of his best and worst childhood memories. Gentle, inquisitive, and steady.

Ghost of Christmas Present, Mr. Fezziwig, & Others (M, 30s+): Mr. Fezziwig is Scrooge’s former boss; magnanimous and good-humored, he is always trying to give a gift or make someone laugh. The Ghost of Christmas Present is jovial, hearty, and kind.

Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, Young Scrooge, & Others (M, 18 – 30): Young Scrooge is a serious student. Afraid to tell the truth about his difficult relationship to his father, he insists on self-sufficiency and strives for wealth. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come does not speak, but is a vivid and foreboding spirit.

Mrs. Fezziwig & Mrs. Dilber (F, 30s+): Mrs. Dilber is Scrooge’s seen-everything housekeeper; she’s one of the few people in his life unafraid to tell him exactly what she thinks. Mrs. Fezziwig, like her husband, is a benevolent host, quick to make others feel at home.

Fred & Others (M, 20s – 30s): Scrooge’s good-natured nephew. A quick-witted, unflappable optimist. Belle & Bess (F, 18 – 30s): Belle is Young Scrooge’s fiancée. Humble and honest, she values people above wealth. Bess is a friend of Fred and Alice and wife to Topper; cheerful and outgoing.

Tom Watkins, Dick Wilkins, & Others (M, 18 – 30s): Tom Watkins is an expectant father and one of Scrooge’s many debtors. Dick Wilkins was Scrooge’s best friend in his school years; sociable and warm.

Young Marley, Marley’s Ghost, & Others (M, 40s+): Marley returns in spirit form to warn Scrooge not to follow in his path. Mysterious and frightening, he possesses a dark wisdom. In his youth, he was a mentor and eventual business partner to Scrooge – and a merciless businessman.

Missy Watkins & Martha Cratchit (F, 18 – 30s): Missy Watkins is an expectant mother and one of Scrooge’s many debtors. Martha is the Cratchit’s eldest daughter, hard-working and sweet.

Peter Cratchit & Others (M, 18 – 30s): One of the eldest Cratchit children. Peter is playful and full of energy – and a particular friend to his youngest brother, Tim.

Topper & Others (M, 20s – 30s): A friend of Fred and Alice and husband to Bess; energetic and quick to laugh.

Alice, Fan, & Others: (F, 18 – 30s): Fan is Scrooge’s gentle young sister. Alice is Fred’s wife; playful and warm.

Carolers (2W, 2M): Actor-singers adept with character roles. For the male voices, seeking strong tenor and baritone.

***PLEASE NOTE that roles for actors under the age of 18 (Tiny Tim, Cratchit Children, Turkey Boy, Match Boy, etc) are reserved exclusively for students of the Pittsburgh CLO Academy and will be auditioned separately.
