Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA), one of Lincoln Center’s eleven resident organizations, serves a unique role on the Lincoln Center campus, serving as the landlord of the sprawling 16-acre complex, overseeing day-to-day operations, security, and maintenance. This also includes the management of major construction and renovation projects, space rentals, and coordination of outdoor public events.
LCPA is also a leading arts presenter, showcasing a dynamic array of music, dance, and theatre on its stages, curating the American Songbook, Great Performers, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, White Light Festival, and David Rubenstein Atrium series as well as overseeing production for the PBS series, Live From Lincoln Center.
Lastly, Lincoln Center Education (LCE), which is part of the LCPA umbrella, strives to help young people in New York develop skills in problem solving, collaboration, communication, imagination, and creativity through their engagement with the arts. In doing so, LCE works to develop teaching artists and oversees community, family, and school programming across the boroughs of New York City.
The Information Resources Office at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts administers the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) Archives and the organization’s Records Management Program. LCPA Archives serves as the institution’s archive of vital records and treasure trove of invaluable historical documentation as well as routine business matters and operations dating back to its founding in the 1950s. The Records Management Program provides guidelines and best practices for managing information to LCPA staff.
The Information Resources Office is seeking interns for opportunities in both program areas.
Under the supervision of the Director of Archives and Records Management, the LCPA Archives Intern will:
- Inventory administrative records in Lincoln Center Archives as identified by Records Manager
- Create assessment by record series for disposition, using the LCPA retention schedules.
- Prepare records scheduled for disposition as per assessment.
- Supervise the destruction of the records.
- If time allows, use the Lincoln Center retention schedules to select records for future destruction.
- Must be currently enrolled at a college or university at the graduate level pursuing a degree in library science, archival studies or records management
- Must be able to commit to 16 hours per week (2 days per week full time) for ten – twelve weeks
- Attention to detail a necessity
- Aptitude for direction and working on a team.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and climb ladders
