DESCRIPTION

The Georgetown Gilbert & Sullivan Society is seeking Directors and Music Directors for its 2019–2020 season! Below you will find all important information regarding hiring and show proposals.

THE BASICS

  • We are soliciting applications and proposals for two productions, a musical (going up in early April of 2020), and a staged reading of a non-musical (going up in early November of 2019).

  • Please specify which of the shows listed below you are interested in directing or music directing.

  • Applications for Directors and Music Directors are due July 19th, 2019.

  • We will accept applications for Director and Music Director teams, as well as individual ones.

  • For both productions, rehearsals generally will be held in the evenings, Monday–Friday, from 7–10pm.

Special Note: While we have put careful thought into selecting the shows listed below and believe these to be optimal choices for the group, we realize we can’t have thought of everything! If you would like to direct a play or musical that is not on our list, and believe that it would be good for the group, feel free to send us your proposal. We will be happy to read it!
(Please keep in mind the technical limitations of the group, as well as the need for shows that can accommodate varying cast sizes, including flexible chorus size. We are unlikely to consider proposals for shows with 4 person casts, shows that require choruses of young children, or shows that require the entire cast to be on roller-skates…)
