Chautauqua Theater Company ( seeks female and/or non-binary identifying non-Equity actor-musicians for the summer Conservatory. These roles are open to actors of all ethnicities – actors of color encouraged to submit.

  About the Conservatory

Chautauqua Theater Company is committed to developing the next generation of theater artists. The heart of CTC’s educational programming is the Conservatory, which brings together 19 of the top emerging theater artists from around the country for hands-on training and work experience that helps to bridge the gap between artist training and professional careers.

The Acting Conservatory members play leading roles in mainstage productions and the New Play Workshop series, as well as our touring Shakespeare production. All conservatory members receive a full scholarship including housing and a stipend. Conservatory alumni currently work across the country from Broadway to regional theater houses and CTC frequently welcomes back Conservatory alumni as guest artists on our mainstage. Residency dates for the summer conservatory are June 9 – August 18. Please only audition if you are available for the full residency period. 


Roles Available

Seeking two female or non-binary identifying actor-musicians who sing and play guitar, bass and/or drums. Other string instruments will be considered. These two actors will have roles in our touring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, play in the band and act in the ensemble for One Man, Two Guvnors and have a leading role in our workshop of the musical Agent 355 by Preston Max Allen & Jessica Kahkoska.

How to Audition

Please submit a self-tape audition of a contemporary comedic monologue of your choice and one video of you playing a song that shows your facility with an instrument, and, if you sing, your singing ability by Wednesday, May 15. Song can be of your choice, ~2-3 mins. The instruments we are looking for are acoustic guitar, electric and/or upright bass, and drums. If you don’t have access to a drum kit, any link to a recording or video of you playing the drums would be fine (minimum length 1min.30sec.). Feel free to include any additional links to videos or audio recordings of you playing or singing, and to specify what tracks or timestamps we should be listening to.
