New York City Center is seeking a highly organized, tech savvy individual who possesses a passion for performing arts education as our next Education Associate. This position will support most endeavors of the Education and Community Engagement Department of City Center including in-school programs, professional development workshops, school time matinees, curriculum development, pre/post show engagements, communication efforts and logistical planning. The Education Associate reports to the Assistant Director of Education. City Center’s in-school programs ignite an appreciation of the performing arts, create a culture of inquiry and activate the individual creative voice for over 11,000 students, educators and families each year.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Coordinate elements of the in-school programs for dance and musical theater education initiatives.
Oversee the administrative aspects of the application and registration process for schools
Scheduling workshops and meetings, organizing all relevant details for use by City Center Education staff, Teaching Artists and school personnel
Facilitate the organization of 3 dance School Time Matinees per year, including creating seating charts, coordinating transportation with the NYPD and school liaisons, and providing teachers with supplementary materials
Foster growing relationships with current school partners, through communication with administrators and teaching artists, while continuing to expand program outreach
Coordinate ticketing for student group attendance at Encores! Dress Rehearsals
Plan City Center Education staff site visits to schools throughout the year to observe programming and support assessment of teaching and learning
Coordinate professional development workshops including studio reservations, planning meetings, preparation of study guides, supplementary materials, lesson plans, and other related logistics
Participate in curriculum development for in-school workshop programs
Perform administrative functions that support the operations of the department as well as efficient record keeping and file organization.
Assist in the execution of all in-theater/community engagement programming
Provide support for events such as City Center On The Move and Front & Center
Maintain online master tracking database of all education programs
Support payment and invoicing for programs
Maintain e-storage and office organization
Collaborate on the development of all department publications
Qualified Applicants Possess:
2+ years previous work experience in performing arts education and arts administration
Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject matter
Familiarity with the current landscape of dance and musical theater
Proficiency in Office 365
Tech savvy; capable of quickly learning various software programs
Familiarity with the NYC public school system
Possess excellent writing and copy-editing skills
Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Possess strong interpersonal skills with an ability to provide exceptional customer service
Ability to uphold department and organization standards while completing tasks in a timely manner
Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite (In Design), Wordfly, Tessitura, and Humanity or similar software programs is preferred
