Job Details

Barefoot Shakespeare Company is seeking a stage manager for our Production of Lady Capulet opening in August. Keeping with our new tradition of exploring new works inspired by Shakespeare, started last year with All One Forest, Barefoot Shakespeare takes on our first prequel.

Synopsis: What caused the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets? This prequel to Romeo and Juliet follows the story of Rose from country girl to lady of Verona and explores the betrayal, revenge ,and manipulations that set the houses of Capulet and Montague against one another in a time when the influence of family, money, power, and gender determine everything. Using evocative language, Lady Capulet asks large questions about women’s place in culture today through a Shakespearean lens.

Responsibilities for the stage manager include: creating a schedule, working closely with the director and whole production team, being the point of contact for cast and crew, running rehearsals, creating reports, attending production meetings, and ensuring the smooth execution of performances. Ideal candidates have experience in outdoor theater and are able to collaborate with an ensemble. Stipend provided for this SM position.
