Job Description: Festival Line Producer
Pilobolus is seeking a Line Producer to manage their 2nd Annual Five Senses Festival this summer in Washington, CT. This position will require residency in Washington, CT during the festival and during portions of the planning process, but candidates can be based in New York City. The 2019 Five Sense Festival will take place on July 20-21, 26-28 & August 2-4.
This is a full time seasonal position, February 15-August 31.
The Five Senses Festival is an outdoor arts and ideas festival that takes place over the course of three weeks in Washington, CT. It involves music and dance performances; lectures and conversations by writers and thinkers from a diverse array of disciplines; visual, audio, and video art installations; educational and craft activities for kids and families; and delicious food and drink. Facilities include a barn with a stage (more info TBD), an outdoor amphitheater, a 40ft tall silo with a performance space inside it, a field, fire pit, train car converted into restrooms, an airstream trailer serving as a bar, covered seating areas, an on-site parking area, and two small silos serving as box office and storage. Festival attendance will average 200 guests per event.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Facilitate internal communication among staff as well as with outside collaborators during festival planning process
Create and manage pre-production calendar and deadlines
Research and collaborate with artistic staff on execution of programming ideas within assigned budget
Manage bid process and vendor relationships for all production and grounds aspects of festival
Collaborate with programming team on schedule for festival events
Collaborate with Technical Director on scheduling technical rehearsals and sound checks
Liaise with guest artists on meeting technical rider requirements within broader festival structure
Serve as event manager during festival hours (coordinate staff and volunteers, oversee festival schedule, liaise with guest artists)
Assist Production Manager in hiring festival production staff
Track and report all expenses to Production Manager
Maintain records and notes on production process
Participate in post-mortem and archival process to ensure continuing success of annual festival
Prior experience in production management, stage management, and/or event production.
Excellent verbal communication skills required
Demonstrated personnel management experience
Strong organizational skills a must
Ability to maintain a positive attitude while prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment
Must work well in team settings but also be highly proactive and motivated working independently
Must be a collaborator and be able to approach potential problems with creative solutions and a good sense of humor
Ability to work constructively with a wide-range of personalities and work styles
Evening and weekend hours will be required at times and especially during summer festival
