Producing Internship

THML Theatre Company
New York, NY 10012

Job Details

THML Theatre Company is seeking producing interns for the upcoming spring season. Working alongside the Executive and Associate Producers, interns will learn about everything that goes into producing indie theatre in NYC. Our current season, “Opening Doors, Closing the Gap,” features three new plays and one new musical. In March 2019, we are producing two of these plays, A Second Birth by Ariel Mitchell and The Owl Girl by Nikki Raymond, as part of an Artist Residency at the Center at West Park. In April 2019, we are producing the play Girl of Glass by Jennifer Kokai and the musical Elevator Heart by Julia Meinwald, Amy Burgess, and Sara Cooper at The Secret Theatre.

What We’re Looking For:
-Line Producing Support: Monitoring rehearsals, assisting stage management with set-up and take-down, facilitating communication between the creative and producing teams.
-Design Support: Assisting the design teams, particularly during tech and load-in, with scenic painting, costume sourcing, and other needs. Interested applicants could serve as ASMs or assistant designers, as desired.
-Social Media Management: Taking rehearsal photos, conducting promotional interviews with the cast and creative team, helping to manage posting schedule and campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.
-House Management Support: attending shows and assisting with audiences at The Center at West Park on the Upper West Side and/or The Secret Theatre in Long Island City, and helping to launch our new audience tipping program.

What We Can Offer You:
-A chance to work on as many as four world-premiere productions in March and April
-A flexible commitment to work around your schedule.
-The opportunity to choose your own internship adventure! Social media whiz? Budding stage management star? The next big designer or director? We can tailor the position to what you most want to learn.
-Assistant Producer credits for the productions you work on.
-A travel stipend upon completion of the season in April (or signing any paperwork for school credit, if applicable).

To apply, please submit a resume and short cover letter explaining why you want to work with THML, your availability in the months of January-April, and what you would most like to learn from the experience.

One hundred percent of our work in our current season is written by women, and more than eighty-five percent of our current creative teams for these projects are female or non-binary.
