[SEYMOUR] Male, 20-30s. An employee at Mushnik’s Flower Shop, Seymour Krelborn is the improbable hero of the story. Introverted and insecure, he is naive and put-upon. In spite of his flaws, he’s a sweet, genuine and well-meaning little man. In love with Audrey and will do anything to protect her. Bari-tenor.
[AUDREY] Female, 20s-30s. A sweet and vulnerable girl from the wrong side of the tracks. She is all heart beneath her peroxide blonde hair and pin-up girl outfits. Audrey works with Seymour at the flower shop and is the love of his life. Lacking in education and self-esteem, she has beautiful dreams for the future despite the hopelessness of her situation, including her abusive relationship. Soprano with strong rock mix/belt.
[MR. MUSHNIK] Male, 50s-60s. Owner of the failing Skid Row flower shop and Seymour’s noseyboss. He is generally a good man but can be profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative. Often yells and complains in Yiddish. Baritone.
[ORIN SCRIVELLO D.D.S.] Male, mid 20s-40s. Egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and
sadistic tendencies. Audrey’s abusive boyfriend. This actor also plays other roles in a series of quick changes, and should be a strong comic with great transformational skills. Baritone/Bass (a la JohnnyCash) or Bari-tenor.
[VOICE OF AUDREY II] Any Sex, Any age. An offstage actor/vocalist with the funky rhythm and blues
voice of a conniving street-smart villain. A cross between Wolfman Jack and Barry White. Baritone with extension.
[CRYSTAL, RONNETE & CHIFFON] Any Ethnicity, non-Caucasian, 20s-30s. Street urchins and our musical guides through the evening, sometimes acting as a Greek Chorus – they know what’s coming. Young, energetic and street smart with sharp sense of humor. Must have strong Motown-style vocals and be adept with tight harmonies and choreography.

[GUY] Male, Any Ethnicity, mid 20s – 30s. A struggling Irish musician. Lost and a bit sad, but extremely appealing. Works with his Da in a vacuum repair shop. Must sing and play guitar extremely well. Must have a strong Irish accent. Folk/rock baritone.
[GIRL] Female, Any Ethnicity, 20s – 30s. Czech-born. Direct, intelligent, no nonsense and witty. Works hard and doesn’t want sympathy. Should have something ‘other’ about her. Has had to work hard at life but doesn’t think she deserves any sympathy. Must play the piano and sing extremely well. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent. Folk/rock mezzo soprano.
[EAMON] Male, Any Ethnicity, 20s – late 40s. Irish. The music studio manager where GUY and GIRLrecord their album. A tough nut to crack but eventually gives into the musician’s talents and shows a

passion and appreciation for their music. Must sing and play guitar & piano well. Facility with percussion a plus. Must have a strong Irish accent. Folk/rock baritone.
[ANDREJ] Male, Any Ethnicity, 20s. Czech-born. Earnest and kind. It works well if he has a slight build, made slighter by his oversized interview suit. An employee at a fast food chain, but has big dreams. Must play guitar & electric bass guitar extremely well. Facility with percussion a plus. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent. Folk/rock baritone.
[REZA] Female, Any Ethnicity, 20s – 30s. A vivacious, sexy, funny, smart Czech girl with a larger then life attitude. Must sing and play violin/fiddle extremely well. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent. Folk/rock soprano.
[DA] Male, Any Ethnicity, 50s and up. Guy’s dad, runs a vacuum repair shop. A man of few words, but a lovely and caring father. Must play guitar or ukulele/mandolin well. Must have a strong Irish accent. Folk/rock baritone.
[BARUSHKA] Female, Any Ethnicity, Late 40s – 50s. Mother of Girl. A cool but caring Czech mother who likes a full house and full stomachs. Not many inhibitions. Must sing and play the accordion/piano well. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent. Folk/rock alto.
[BANK MANAGER] Male or female, Any Ethniciy, 30s-40s. Seems quite prim and proper but has a secret passion for music. Must sing and play guitar and cello very well. Must have a strong Irish (Cork) accent. Folk/ rock tenor or alto.
[SVEJC] Male, Any Ethnicity, 20s-30s, A real odd ball. Loves television and coffee. Must play guitar & drum kit extremely well. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent. Folk/rock baritone.
[EX-GIRLFRIEND] Female, Any Ethnicity, 20s – Early 30s, Guy’s ex-girlfriend who now lives in New York. Kind, lovely and likeable. Must play violin extremely well. Must have a strong Irish accent. Folk/rock mezzo-soprano.
[BILLY] Male, Any Ethnicity, Mid 30s – 40s. A large Irish man with a big personality and a heart of gold. Owner of the music store where Girl plays piano. Loud, funny and protective of GIRL but also has a vulnerability. Must sing and play guitar well. Must have a strong Irish accent. Folk/rock baritone.
[EMCEE] Male, 20s-40s, Any Ethnicity, The emcee at a bar. A good-natured ball buster. Must sing and play guitar (& piano) extremely well. Must have a strong Irish accent. Folk/rock baritone.
[IVANKA] 6-8 year old girl. IVANKA is the sweet natured daughter of Girl. Should be comfortable on
stage and have the ability to sing.

[CASSIE] Female, 30s. A star dancer who has had success in featured roles on Broadway and now

needs a job. Recently back from LA, she wants to start over and put herself on the line. She is passionate about dance and it shows in her performance. Vulnerable but committed. Had a relationship with Zach in the past. Must be an outstanding dancer and sing extremely well, belter.
[DIANA] Female, Puerto Rican, late 20s. Warm and likable. She attended the High School of Performing Arts, where her drama teacher told her that she would never make it as an actress. Despite her setbacks, she still believes in the thrill and power of dancing on Broadway. Must sing extremely well, mezzo.
[SHEILA] Female, 30s. Her mother pushed her into being a ballerina and she used dance as a means to escape her unpleasant home life. Strong, opinionated and assertive but not mean. Her sharp, biting sense of humor and tough, passive aggressive attitude cover her insecurity and vulnerability.
[VAL] Female, 20s. Adorable but, savvy and self-assured. Her dreams of being a Rockette were dashed and she learned that her looks were holding her back. Not one to settle, she went to a doctor and bought herself a new look and new physique, of which she is very proud. Must sing extremely well.
[KRISTINE] Female, 20s. She “could never really sing,” but grew up dancing to the radio. She is often panicked and nervous, but has a loving husband, Al, who helps ground her. Unintentionally comedic.
[BEBE] Female, 20s. She grew up being told she was “different” looking, but feels beautiful when she dances. Must sing extremely well.
[JUDY] Female, late 20s. Funny and quirky. She used to dance around the living room, but is now ready for Broadway. Tall, thin and off-beat.
[CONNIE] Asian Female, early 30s. Born in Chinatown. Sings about being 4’10” and laments being too short to be a ballerina. Energetic and self-assured. Petite — should be under 5’3”.
[MAGGIE] Female, 20s. Sweet girl-next-sure, she had a difficult home life growing up and used to dance and fantasize as a way of escape. Must have a strong, high belt/mix.
[ZACH] Male, 30s – early 40s. A charismatic, controlling, and manipulative but brilliant Broadway director/ choreographer. Always seems strong and self-assured, despite the emotional circumstances he creates.
[PAUL] Puerto Rican Male, late 20s. Shy and sensitive. Left school at a young age after being bullied for being effeminate. He secretly began to work in a seedy drag show, which he hid from his parents. Must be strong actor and able to deliver a long, engaging monologue.
[MIKE] Male, 20s. Italian. He discovered dance when he started attending his sister’s dance class and realized he could do that, and better. Athletic and masculine. Must sing well, tenor.
[BOBBY] Male, 20s. A bit of an oddball, he tells great stories of all of the trouble he’s gotten into over the years. He is funny, attractive and charismatic.
[AL] Male, 30s. Kristine’s husband; he is her rock. He is tough and street smart, from a working class background. Masculine and appealing, with strong singing voice.
[RICHIE] African American Male, 20s. After winning a basketball scholarship to college, he almost became a kindergarten teacher, but instead put his considerable energy into dance. Charismatic with a big tenor voice.
[MARK] Male, 20. Boyish and innocent. His memories of his adolescent sexual awakening include misinterpreting a wet dream as gonorrhea.
[GREG] Male, 30s, Smart, wry and witty, he describes himself as “very East Side.” Has known he was gay since a young age and is at home with it.
[DON] Male, 20s. All American. He tells a story of working in strip joints and having an affair with an older stripper.
