Based in New York City, Broadway Licensing also services the Playscripts Inc. catalog and licenses professional and amateur productions worldwide, publishes acting editions and trade anthologies, and is committed to connecting theaters with fresh, new voices.

Job description

Broadway Licensing seeks an intern with a strong interest in learning about the play publishing industry. This highly interactive internship aims to provide publishing experience working with titles in the Playscripts catalogue, and an opportunity to participate in our daily operations as we partner with theaters and playwrights. An appreciation of theater and an enthusiasm for new works is a plus.

Key responsibilities

Duties may include copyediting and formatting manuscripts, researching projects, and other administrative tasks.  


We’re looking for energetic, self-motivated and responsible individuals with excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to multitask.


  • Ability in proofreading and a detail-oriented approach to text

  • Touch-typing proficiency (at least 60 words per minute)

  • Proficiency with standard word processing, email, and web browsing software


  • InDesign experience and/or interest in learning InDesign

A stipend is provided for part-time internships ($20/day), and the experience is eligible for course credit at most schools. Ideal commitment is 2-3 days a week. Minimum length of internship is 3 months, with a start date on or around February 4th, 2019.
