Walnut Street Theatre, America’s oldest and the most subscribed theatre company in the world, is looking for an experienced prop artisan to fill the Head Props position at its scenic and prop shop. WST produces a five-show main stage season consisting of three musicals and two straight plays, as well as a five-show studio series and a five-show children’s series. Primary responsibilities include: working with the Prop Manager, other IATSE crew, and apprentices to build and alter props and maintain the shop and its equipment and ensure workers are properly handling products/equipment in accordance with safety guidelines. Must be skilled in fine carpentry, welding (steel), electrical wiring, scenic painting, sewing, upholstery, and 3D sculpture and be able to read and understand drafting.  The ideal candidate is self-motivated and detail oriented, and is a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve complicated prop builds.  Previous theatrical experience is required. This position also requires the ability to lift 50+ lbs. This is a full-time seasonal IATSE position that begins in May, 2019.
